Carla has over 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing and tax, with specialization in International Tax Consulting, Planning, and Compliance, including experience with the U.S. taxation of foreign subsidiaries and foreign branches of U.S. corporations, taxation of dividend income, foreign currency translation issues, ownership structures, check-the-box and foreign disregarded entity structures, dividend and foreign tax credit planning, U.S. expense allocation, and export tax planning. Carla has extensive experience with U.S. taxation of foreign investment in the U.S. and related planning, income tax treaty, and compliance matters. She is responsible for planning and compliance for foreign nationals and U.S. expatriates, as well as U.S. tax matters for beneficiaries of foreign trusts & estates.
Additionally, Carla handles corporate tax planning for organizations, reorganizations, and liquidations for corporations and S corporations. She does research and consulting on various tax matters, including partnership and individual income tax matters, consolidated return requirements, LIFO inventory, inventory cost capitalization, and other tax matters affecting manufacturing and distribution companies, and representation of clients in IRS examinations.
Carla has represented Plante Moran at a number of Praxity International conferences.
Carla is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the International Fiscal Association. Before she joined Plante & Moran in 1990, she was a senior manager with the Detroit office of Ernst & Young, specializing in international tax matters. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan – Dearborn, earning a BBA (Highest Honors) in Accounting.
