Eline is heading the Indirect Tax group of Mazars Amsterdam dealing with VAT, customs & international trade relating issues. She represents clients in European and global cross-border distribution, manufacturing and logistics projects. the services include determining and implementing indirect tax (VAT) and customs duty and savings, mitigating administrative hassles, implementing customs bonded warehouse regimes, ensuring VAT and trade compliance with EU and national legislation, optimizing e-business, drafting or reviewing agreements with logistics service providers and obtaining rulings with the authorities on customs valuation, classification, origin, export controls and all other international trade related VAT & customs issues.
Eline started her career at the VAT and international trade & customs group of KPMG in 1993 and worked as a tax lawyer at Baker & McKenzie as from 1998. As from 2005 she was a judge in the Tax and Customs Chamber of the District Court in Haarlem and the High Court in Amsterdam. Apart from heading the Indirect Tax Practice at Mazars in Amsterdam, she is a deputy justice in the Tax Chamber at one of the four High Courts in the Netherlands and a frequent author on various indirect tax issues.
Eline works together with the indirect tax specialists of Mazars on the EU and globally on a day-to- day basis; for globally operating companies she operates as the point of contact in multi-country projects. She is one of the directors of the Mazars allied fiscal representative company VAT-Assist BV.
Eline has broad experience in the field of both VAT and customs related issues serving clients in high duty industries such as apparel, footwear, chemicals, food, consumer goods, electronics and automotive.
