Jerry De Cordova

With over 30 years of experience in local and international accounting firms, Jerry currently serves as partner in charge of the Tax Department at Aquino De Cordova, Alfaro & Co. LLP. His experience includes corporate and individual tax planning at the Puerto Rico and US levels including reorganizations, expatriate taxation in PR, estate taxes, negotiation of tax grants, drafting of legislation and tax planning for the entertainment industry.
He was president of the Puerto Rico State Society of Certified Public Accountants, during the 2003-2004 fiscal year and has actively cooperated with the CPA State Society since his designation as a CPA. He is also a member of the Bar Association of Puerto Rico. Jerry was a member of the American Institute of CPAs Council until 2010. Currently, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-American Accounting Association (AIC), an organization representing accountants from 23 countries. He also serves in the Chancellor’s Advisory Board at Universidad Del Este.
He has participated in numerous media campaigns providing tax guidance by writing articles, radio and TV appearances. Jerry has cooperated in the drafting of several pieces of legislation, among which are the Special Partnerships Act and the last three tax reforms in PR. He was named Distinguished CPA in 2010 and one of the most influential CPAs in the last 25 years in 2011. Jerry graduated from the University of Puerto Rico where he obtained his bachelor and law degrees.
